The Faugère is a less settled, wild and wooded region that starts at about 15 km north of Béziers. Only 1800 of the 5000 in 1982 as Appellation d'Origine Con- trolé, classified hectares, wine in cultivated. The Faugère is the only AOC in the Languedoc that has a homogene shales-ground.
